Happy Christmas

I would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas. The boys and girls have been so good all year with their work and helping each other stay safe.

I hope Santa is good to everyone and I can't wait to see you all again in the new year.

Visit to the Crib

After reading the story of the first Christmas, we walked to the Church to see the Crib and chatted about the figures in it.

Baby Jesus is missing from the manger but He will arrive on Christmas Eve.

Elfie's Antics

Elfie is back to his old tricks again, but so far he hasn't done too much damage.

We hope that he doesn't get up to too much mischief over the weekend.....fingers crossed.

Road Safety Webinar

This week we completed a webinar on Road Safety with Cork Sports Partnership, Cork County Council and An Garda Síochána.

The children learned about walking and cycling safely on the road and the importance of High-vis vests, helmets and the use of safety belts and booster seats when travelling in the car.

Guess who's back!

There was lots of excitement in school today with the return of our friend Elfie.

It was starting to look doubtful that he was going to make it in time for the Toy Show, but we got a special delivery from the postman with a little surprise for everyone in the class.

I hope everyone enjoys the Toy Show tonight and we hope Elfie won't get up to too much mischief this weekend with all the other school elves.

Farm Safety

Thanks to IRD Duhallow and Alma from Agrikids who provided a lesson on farm safety this week.

The children learned about the dangers on the farm, the safety signs to look out for and what to wear if we are working on the farm or visiting a farm.

Science week

Science week was full of fun and investigations in our class.

We learned about electricity, magnets, reactions and even made an egg bounce....very messy!

I'm sure we have alot of future young scientists and electricians in our midst.

3D Shapes

This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes around us.

We finished the week by building some 3D shapes of our own using spaghetti and marshmallows. This was a great fun activity to explore the shapes we had learned about and it involved lots of concentration and teamwork.

Happy Halloween

We have spent the last few days getting ready for the Halloween festivities.

We had fun making Halloween art projects. We baked and tasted our own Báirín Breac. There was lots of excitement when some of the boys and girls found some surprises in the barm brack.

Today we had our annual dress-up day and it was great to see all of the boys and girls in their scary outfits.

Our puking pumpkin was a fun way to see how some ingredients react when mixed together....very messy!

I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween. See you all soon.

Autumn Art

Over the past few weeks we have been working on the Autumn theme. The children have completed their own nature walks and found some lovely Autumn leaves and fruits. We learned about some of the animals that are going to hibernate for the long, cold Winter ahead.

They also made some Halloween pumpkins to decorate their homes.

Garden Harvest

The children have harvested the vegetables from the garden and tidied up the garden beds.

Today we were able to taste the soup that we made from the garden vegetables. It was yummy!

Welcome Back to School

Senior Infants and First Class have been settling in well to their new classroom. We have lots of new routines to get used to, but it is great to see all the smiling faces back in the classroom and on the school yard.

Along with getting back to some school work, the children have been decorating the classroom with their beautiful artwork.
